Privacy Notice
How JABEM collects, uses and protects personal data.
This notice explains how the Journal of African Business & Economics Management (JABEM), published by George Mwenda, handles personal data, in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email, institution, country, ORCID iD and areas of expertise you add to your profile.
- Submissions: manuscripts, author details, statements and correspondence.
- Peer review: reviewer reports and recommendations.
- Payments: invoice details, the phone number used for M-PESA and transaction references. We never see or store card numbers or M-PESA PINs.
- Website use: counts of article views and downloads, kept without identifying readers.
How we use it
Only to run the journal: handling submissions and peer review, publishing articles, processing fees, and contacting you about your work. Published articles include the authors' names, affiliations and ORCID iDs, because that is how scholarly work is credited.
Who can see it
Unpublished manuscripts, reviews and reviewer identities are confidential and visible only to the editors involved. We do not sell personal data. Payment details are shared only with the payment provider (Safaricom M-PESA) to complete a payment.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or object to its use, by writing to editor@jabem.org. Published articles form part of the scholarly record and are not removed, but account data can be deleted.
