About the journal
Aims and Scope
What JABEM publishes, for whom, and how often.
The Journal of African Business & Economics Management (JABEM) publishes rigorous, policy-relevant research on business, economics and management in Africa. It serves researchers, postgraduate students, practitioners and policymakers who want evidence grounded in African markets, firms and institutions.
Scope
We welcome theoretical, empirical and applied work, including (but not limited to):
- Fintech and digital finance: mobile money, digital credit, payments, and financial inclusion.
- SMEs and entrepreneurship: firm growth, the informal sector, innovation, and access to finance.
- Agribusiness and value chains: agricultural markets, supply chains, cooperatives and food systems.
- Trade, policy and public finance: the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), regional integration, taxation and governance.
- Accounting, banking, marketing, human resources, strategy and operations in African organisations.
Studies from any African country, and comparative work that includes Africa, are in scope. We value local data, careful methods and clear implications for practice and policy.

- Research articles: original empirical or theoretical studies.
- Review articles: systematic or critical reviews of a field.
